Print Listener Troubleshooting

Print Listener Troubleshooting

Overview

Label's been purchased but it's not making it to the Print Listener? Printing feels slow? This guide walks through the settings and connections to check first.

Applies to issues like:

  • No print job shows up in the Print Listener queue
  • Labels are purchased but never sent to the printer
  • Printing is slow or delayed
  • Only some labels make it to the Print Listener
  • Ship Order or Ship and Print Order doesn't auto-print the label

Troubleshooting Checklist

1. Make sure the Print Listener is actually running

Having it installed isn't enough — it needs to be open and running in the background while you're packing. If it's closed, Packiyo has nowhere to send the label.

Check that it's:

  • Installed
  • Open
  • Running in the background
  • Connected to the right user

2. Don't use the same login on multiple stations

The same Print Listener login shouldn't be active on two packing stations at once.

Example of what not to do:

Packiyo UserPrint Listener
Station 1JohnJohn
Station 2JohnJohn

Running the same login on both stations can cause print jobs to route incorrectly or fail to print. Every station should have its own matching user/login.

3. Verify the Print Listener user matches

The Print Listener login should match the Packiyo web user on that same station.

  1. Log out of the Packiyo Print Listener.
  2. Log back in using the same user that's currently logged into Packiyo in the browser.
  3. Confirm the correct user is connected.

This tells Packiyo exactly which Print Listener should get the job.

4. Check the printer configuration

Once the right user's confirmed, check the printer setup in Packiyo:

  1. Go to Timezone & Printing.
  2. Verify the printer is properly added.
  3. Verify the correct printer is selected.
  4. Verify the printer is available to the station.
  5. Try shipping the order again using Ship & Print.

5. Check the Print Listener queue

After hitting Ship & Print, open the Print Listener app. A print job should show up in the queue while it's processing.

Expected flow:

Ship & Print
↓
Label is purchased
↓
Print job is sent to Print Listener
↓
Print job appears in queue
↓
Label is sent to printer
↓
Print job disappears from queue

⚠️ If nothing appears in the queue at all, the label likely isn't reaching the Print Listener app.

When the Print Listener Shows No Queue

Label's purchased, but nothing's showing up? Double check:

  • Print Listener is running
  • Correct user is logged in
  • Those credentials aren't logged in on another station too
  • Print Listener user matches the Packiyo web user
  • Printer is configured correctly under Timezone & Printing
  • You're on the latest Print Listener version

If you've checked all of these and it's still happening, grab a recent order number that hit the issue after you confirmed the settings above — that gives Support/Engineering something real to investigate.

When Printing Is Slow

If the job eventually shows up but takes a while, figure out where the delay is happening:

  1. Label purchased, but the queue is delayed Points to something between Packiyo and the Print Listener.
  2. Queue shows up right away, but the printer is slow Points to the local printer, workstation, or printer connection.
  3. A screenshot or recording of the queue helps pinpoint exactly where things are slowing down.

When Only Some Labels Print

Multiple labels purchased, but only a few make it through? Check:

  1. How many labels were actually purchased.
  2. How many print jobs show up in the Print Listener.
  3. Whether the missing labels show up in the Print Listener logs.
  4. The printer configuration.
  5. Grab the affected order number.

This helps pin down whether the drop-off happens before the job reaches the Print Listener, or after.

Updating the Print Listener

Always run the latest version — it keeps your station up to date with the newest printing fixes and functionality. Grab the right installer for your OS:

What to Send When Escalating

If you've been through the checklist above and it's still not working, send along:

  1. Recent order number — one that hit the issue after all settings were verified.
  2. Packing page screenshot or recording — showing the order as it's being shipped.
  3. Print Listener screenshot or recording — showing print jobs, queue activity, and logs if available.

This helps us figure out whether the label's not making it out of Packiyo, or it's arriving at the Print Listener but getting stuck there.

FAQ

The label was already purchased. Why didn't it print? Purchasing and printing are two separate steps. After purchase, Packiyo has to send the job to the Print Listener — if no queue shows up, start by checking that the app is running and logged in as the right user.

Nothing's appearing in Print Listener. What should I check?

  • Print Listener is running
  • Correct user is logged in
  • That user isn't also logged in on another station
  • Print Listener and Packiyo web are using the same user
  • Printer is configured under Timezone & Printing
  • Latest Print Listener version is installed

The print job shows up in Print Listener but won't print. That means the job made it there fine — next, check the local printer configuration, the selected printer, and the workstation/printer connection.

What should I send Support? A recent affected order number, plus a screenshot or recording of the Packing page and one of the Print Listener showing the queue or logs.
