Clearing a Tote to Repick an Order

Clearing a Tote to Repick an Order

Already picked an order into a tote, but need to pick it again? Maybe it was an incorrect pick, some items got damaged, or something changed operationally. Either way, you'll need to clear the tote first — once it's empty, the order goes right back through the normal picking workflow.

There are two ways to do this, depending on what you've got in front of you.

Method 1: Clear the Tote from Picking Totes

Use this if you already know which tote the order is in.

  1. Click the Gear (Settings) icon.
  2. Navigate to Picking Totes.
  3. Locate the tote assigned to the order.
  4. Click Empty Tote.
  5. Confirm the action.

That's it — the tote is cleared and the order is ready to be picked again.

Method 2: Clear the Tote from the Order

Prefer to work from the order itself? You can clear the tote right from there.

  1. Open the Order Details page.
  2. Scroll to the Order Totes section.
  3. Click the tote associated with the order.
  4. Select Clear Tote Items.
  5. Confirm the action.

This removes all items from the tote and puts the order back into a repickable state.

What Happens After Clearing the Tote?

Once the tote's been cleared:

  • The order is no longer associated with that tote.
  • Inventory in the tote is released.
  • The order becomes available for picking again in the app.
  • It can be picked into the same tote or a different one — whichever works best.

Common Use Cases

Clearing a tote comes in handy when:

  • An incorrect item was picked.
  • The picker needs to restart the process.
  • Items were damaged or misplaced during picking.
  • The order needs to be reassigned to a different picker or tote.
  • Operational changes call for a repick.

Best Practice

💡 Double check that the order really needs to be repicked before clearing the tote — this action removes all currently picked items from it. Once cleared, run the order back through the standard picking workflow to keep inventory accurate and fulfillment on track.
