Heads up:
If you haven't yet added a printer, you'll want to download and install Packiyo's printer app.
Disable "Check apps and files" in Security Settings
To disable Microsoft Defender SmartScreen for apps and files in Windows 11, follow these steps (follow text below graphic):
Open Windows Security:
Press the
Windows
key, type "Windows Security," and hitEnter
.
Go to App & Browser Control:
In the Windows Security window, click on "App & browser control" in the left sidebar.
Reputation-based Protection Settings:
Under the "Reputation-based protection" section, click on "Reputation-based protection settings."
Turn Off SmartScreen for Apps and Files:
In the "Reputation-based protection settings" window, find the "Check apps and files" section.
Toggle the switch to
Off
.
Confirm the Changes:
A User Account Control (UAC) prompt may appear. Confirm the changes by clicking
Yes
or entering your administrator password if prompted.
Heads Up:
After completing these steps, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will no longer check apps and files on your Windows 11 system. Keep in mind that turning off this feature may increase the risk of running potentially harmful software, so be cautious about the files and apps you choose to run.
If the above doesn't help configure your printer in Windows 11....
Change "Choose where to get apps"
If the above steps still don't help configure your printer in Windows 11....
Check your printer configuration
Heads up:
If you haven't yet added a printer, you'll want to download and install Packiyo's printer app.
Click the printer icon.
Look at the selected printer. If "Generate PDF" is selected, you may need to add your printer.
Check configured printers
Click the gear icon in the lower-left corner of your screen, then select
Connected Printers:
Configured printers are displayed on the Printers page:

Add a printer
To add a printer, click the gear icon in the lower-left corner of your screen, then select Timezone & Printing:
Your listed Timezone may be incorrect. If it is, you'll need to change your Timezone. To do so, click the (1) pencil icon to activate editing mode, change the Timezone to your timezone, then click the (2) disc icon to save:
Follow the step above to set a new default printer for Label Printer; Barcode Printer; or Slip Printer.
